Cardinal Academy

Eudora High School Cardinal Academy is designed for Eudora School District students that need an alternative high school approach in order to be successful during their high school experience, obtain a high school diploma, and be prepared for life post-high school. Cardinal Academy approaches each student’s needs individually, but students are still expected to adhere to the district’s rules, procedures, and policies.

Expectations

Students must check in and check out with Cardinal Academy staff on a daily basis, as well as set and review goals on a regular basis (weekly to bi-weekly).
Stay on track with Edgenuity courses credit recovery classes; each student is allowed to take 2 Edgenuity courses at a time. Students do not have to work outside of their assigned school day as long as they stay on track.
Take all academic screeners and state assessments given by the high school.
Attend Lunch and Learns as deemed necessary by Program Director/staff
Complete individual plans of study planning as determined by the program director/staff is expected. This may include but is not limited to:
- College and technical school visits, career fairs
- Xello Student Account
- Visits with military recruiters or job experience mentors
- Post-secondary planning time with a counselor and/or staff

Graduation and Extracurricular Participation

Students attending Cardinal Academy are allowed to participate in and attend any and all extracurricular activities and events as long as they are in good standing with their assigned Cardinal Academy and Eudora High School classes.
Students who meet the above requirements are able to graduate with 21 credit hours, with all of Eudora High School’s requirements being met to satisfy graduation requirements.
Students meeting all of Eudora High School Cardinal Academy’s graduation requirements will be allowed to participate in and attend Eudora High School’s graduation ceremony.

Curriculum

While attending Cardinal Academy, students’ courses are provided through Edgenuity’s online curriculum. Assistance is provided by Cardinal Academy staff as needed.
Students are allowed to pre-test out of individual lessons. Students must score a 70% or higher to bypass the lesson.
Students taking quizzes (not pre-tests), tests, and final exams must earn a 60% or higher in order to move on in the course.
Students must pass courses with a 60% or higher in order to receive credit for a course.
Students are encouraged to use the eNotes, Edgenuity Guided notes, or any other self-created notes. These are allowed to be used on assessments.
